As the year draws to a close, Disney Animation markets it’s upcoming film Zootopia, reflecting on the best films of 2015. With Star Wars: The Force Awakens so close fans can almost taste it, Disney has taken this opportunity to create a set of new Zootopia posters, spoofing the likes of Star Wars, Ex Machina and the much anticipated Jurassic World.
With this new adorable animation, Disney have created a familiar, yet human-less society, where all animal species live harmoniously together, “from the biggest elephant to the small shrew” . The film focuses on rookie police officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), who struggles to fit in with the force of tougher animals, such as buffalo Chief Bogo (Idris Elba), and cheetah Benjamin Clawhauser (Nate Torrence). In order to help solve a case of a missing animal, Hopps must cooperate with Robin Hood inspired, con-artist fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), forming an unlikely alliance.
With a beautiful gallery of concept art surrounding Zootopia’s colourful areas – such as Sahara Square, Rainforest District and Rodentia – Disney Animation wish to bring to children the idea of diversity in culture, explaining how these oh-so-different species can happily co-exist despite their differences. You can find the collection of concept art here at https://disneyconceptsandstuff.tumblr.com/tagged/zootopia.
The light-hearted, comical adaptations on 2015 film posters are part of a fun “Countdown to Zoo Years’ Eve” campaign, which will result in a “Zoo Years’ Surprise”, to celebrate the new year. The official website presents Zootopia’s “Best of 2015” music singles, as well as the posters, featuring the likes of “Hello – Gazelle” and “Uptown Skunk – Mark Slothson ft Otter Scars”. Zootopia is to be released March 16 2016 in the UK, and March 4 2016 in the US: watch the trailer to discover the world where “from the biggest elephant to the small shrew, you can be anything”…
