Spotify have today released their Year in Music charts which allows users to receive information on their most streamed artists and songs amongst other information as well as find out what and who were streamed the most for the year. In no surprise at all, Ed Sheeran tops Spotify’s list as the most streamed artist of 2017.
According to Sky News, Ed Sheeran amassed a staggering 6.3 billion streams worldwide. Sheeran dominates the charts and received the most accolades for this 2017 effort ÷ including Most Streamed Male, Top 5 Songs and Top 5 Albums.
Drake lags behind in Top 5 Artists and Top 5 Albums with his project More Life which had a very impressive year and saw the artist go from strength to strength. Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Post Malone and The Chainsmokers also get honourable mentions as seen in the infograph below.
What may have caught many by surprise was the news that Little Mix top the chart as the Most Streamed Group within the UK as well as being the only female act to break into the Most Streamed Artists in the UK Top 5. The powerhouse group have seen major international success in recent years since winning The X Factor so the accolade is most fittingly deserved.
I definitely advise any Spotify users to check out their Top Songs of 2017 – the playlist will be available through the Spotify service on your computer and your mobile device.
