The NFT marketplace has attracted hip-hop stars like 2 Chainz, Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, among others, creating a new stream of income for rappers and another way to connect with their fans. And this trend has not escaped Eminem.
The rapper first teased the news on Tuesday, retweeting the recent Saturday Night Live sketch starring Pete Davidson as Eminem from the video “Without Me”. In this sketch in which he parodies the song, the humorist tried somehow to explain what an NFT was.
Subsequently, he officially announced the launch of his digital festival named Shady Con, with a collection of NFT objects approved by himself. One of his NFTs is a unique copy called ‘STAN’S REVENGE’, and will be auctioned off.
The collection has been presented on the NFT market place of Nifty Gateway. Fans will be able to get their hands on exclusive artwork related to Eminem’s passions. Namely, comics, trading cards and even toys from his childhood.
But that’s not all! For the occasion of the festival, the NFT collection will also include exclusive instrumentals composed by Marshall himself.
“I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on”, said Eminem. “Not much has changed for me as an adult […] It’s been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own collecting passion”, he added.
Launched this weekend, Eminem’s NFTs have all been sold already, proving to be a major success with the general public.
