Emma Stone has locked down a deal to star in Battle of the Sexes as Tennis legend Billie Jean King. Battle of the Sexes will detail the rivalry and match between Billie Jean King and fellow Bobby Riggs, Steve Carell. The match centred on the fact that Riggs thought that the women’s game of tennis was inferior to mens and even at 55 he could beat the highest ranking female tennis players.
Steve Carell seems to be a damn good choice to take the role, after watching him take on more serious roles in Foxcatcher, the man has proven he is a serious actor. Battle of the Sexes, will also reunite Stone and Carell, who both appeared in the frankly underrated Crazy, Stupid, Love, and will be directed by Little Miss Sunshine directing duo, Johnathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. Expect to see this one around about Oscar bait time next year, if we’re lucky.
