Grammy Award winning West London singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actress Estelle returns to her hometown this May, with two new shows at O2 Institute2 Birmingham and London’s O2 Academy Islington, excellently tagged the Estelle Experience.
She will perform songs from her last album Lovers Rock, which was released on September 7, 2018, inspired by her parents love story, and featuring collaborations with the likes of Chronixx, Kranium, Tarrus Riley, Maleek Berry, Alicai Harley, and Luke James.
“I want fans to feel close to me and experience a great show from beginning to end,” said Estelle. “When I give my fans this show, I want them to walk away feeling like they not only experienced a great concert but to give people the story of my parents, Mike & Deen and a personal look into the story of who I am”.
Estelle’s debut album, The 18th Day, was released in the UK in October 2004, and propelled her to win a MOBO Award for Best Newcomer. Her career got a boost when she met Kanye West while on a trip to Los Angeles, Estelle approached Kanye, introduced herself and asked for an introduction to John Legend, the rest, as they say, is history.
Legend eventually helped produce two songs on her debut album and then, she was the first to sign to his record label Homeschool. After that it was consecutive successes after another, releasing her second album Shine and her single “American Boy” featuring Kanye West, gave her international fame.
She’s not only a talented singer-songwriter, she also starred in hit Fox TV show Empire in 2015 and is the voice of Garnet in Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, where she provides the vocals for her character in numerous songs. If you don’t want to miss the chance to see her live, make sure to buy your tickets for her May 26 show in Birmingham, or her London show on May 28.
