At the MIP Junior Conference, a Hasbro executive announced that the Transformers writer’s room has not only enough material for Transformers 5, but for a further three films over the next ten years. Despite the franchise’s declining critical popularity, it has made Paramount a cool $4 billion over the years, so planning ten years ahead isn’t too risky. It seems that the franchise is attempting the Marvel approach to planning in advance. There are also rumours that the franchise might change its name in an attempt to distance itself from Michael Bay, and win back critical attention from original fans disenchanted by the latest instalments.
