Melbourne artist Francesca Gonzales has an important message that needs to be shared and does so through recalling her own experiences in her latest song titled “Baby Give It Up“. The new track follows “Better Person” as the second taste of an upcoming EP which is due in April.
“Baby Give It Up” seamlessly blends hints of R&B, neo-soul, pop, indie and electronic music in a groovy, timeless fashion; thanks partly to the forward-thinking production by Matt Neighbour.
But as bright as the track may be, Francesca speaks on uncomfortable encounter with a guy at a festival who wouldn’t stop harassing her with unwanted sexual innuendo and physical hassle while she was just trying to dance and enjoy herself. Something that a lot of women can relate to, especially in the light of the #MeToo campaign.
“I started talking to my friends about it and soon realised that everyone had gone through similar situations. I wanted to write this song as a message to people who don’t take no for an answer. If someone asks you to stop, then stop.” Francesca explains.
In support of her new song, “Baby Give It Up” will be launched on March 15 at the Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne, followed by East coast tour dates and the EP to look forward to officially releasing in April. Until then, savour the new track above and keep your eyes on this rising star.
