It was famously reported that Michael Arndt worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens for over a year before departing due to creative differences, which lead too J.J Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan making some significant rewrites. Well, there’s been another shake up in the world of Star Wars writers as it appears that Gary Whitta is leaving what will be the first Star Wars spin off movie to be directed by Gareth Edwards.
A new writer is expected to be hired in time for the film’s December 16, 2016 release. News of Whitta’s exit comes via The Hollywood Reporter, where both Edwards and Whitta have left some very pleasant comments about working together, Edwards adding; “I enjoyed working with him tremendously, I’m so grateful for all of his contributions”. Whitta then took to twitter to confirm the news.
