Gemma Chan is reportedly in talks with Marvel to star alongside Angelina Jolie in the upcoming film The Eternals, based on their own comic book series of the same name.
Chan is a British film, television and theatre actress and fashion model. Last year, Chan received a lot of recognition for portraying Astrid Leong-Teo in Jon M. Chu’s romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians and for her role as Bess of Hardwick in the historical drama Mary Queen of Scots. Now, Chan may be one of Marvel’s next superheroes.
Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, The Eternals is a comic book set millions of years in the past, when the Celestials visited the Earth and started experimenting with humans to create superior individuals with superpowers known as the Eternals, alongside the evil Deviants.
Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden have already confirmed to be starring in it, and Gemma Chan is now hotly-tipped to play a role as one of the Marvel Earth’s defenders. But it wouldn’t be Chan’s first time in the MCU, as she already played Minn-Erva in the US franchise film Captain Marvel earlier this year.
According to Variety, it is still unclear if Gemma Chan will play Minn-Erva in the upcoming Marvel film, but insiders have said she would probably be starring as a totally different character.
The Eternals will make her debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their own feature film, which is set to hit theaters next year!
