Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin just signed a Hollywood movie deal with Warner Bros. to turn his fantasy novel The Ice Dragon into an animated movie.
Set in a medieval world where dragons are used as weapons of war by rival kingdoms, the 1980 children’s book tells the tale of a young girl who befriends a rare and untamed creature, the ice dragon. Together, they will try and protect the girl’s homeland from a dangerous fleet of dragons which threatens to destroy the city.
Martin will be actively involved with the project: not only will he act as a producer, but he could also write the script for the feature — although that is yet to be determined.
One thing is sure: even though the final season of Game of Thrones will air in 2019, George R.R. Martin is not done being the topic of conversations with his HBO prequel spin-offs already planned, The Ice Dragon animated movie and the upcoming adaptation of his science fiction novella Nightflyers.
Hollywood can’t seem to get enough of Martin… and neither can we.
