Thea Alien, a Berlin-based vocalist and songwriter, has released her new single titled “Do My Thing”. Her latest single is a fusion of neo-soul, alternative R&B, and rap. Calcou (Virgil Abloh, Norma Jean Martine) produced and Hans-Philipp Graf mastered it (Milky Chance, Purple Disco Machine) for her.
Thea discusses her experience in making “Do My Thing”. She stated that she did not expect to end up rapping, but she fell in love with the first lyric fragments. She also stated that she just kept going from there.
“Do My Thing” is about female empowerment and liberation from constraints, according to her. It is about defying prescribed and conflicting ideas about how a woman should behave. The aim is not to belittle you, but to believe that you are valuable. Following your own path and asserting your right to be yourself. Whatever the case may be.
Thea, a vocalist and songwriter, describes her music as “where R&B meets Neo Soul and Pop meets Hip Hop“. Her musical influences include Jorja Smith, Anderson Pac, Solange, and Hiatus Kaiyote, while her latest single was inspired by ELIZA, Mahalia, and Jenevieve.
At the moment, Thea has performed on famous stages such as Admiralspalast Berlin and has worked as a studio vocalist for other artists. “Do My Thing”, her second and most recent single, comes on the back of her last offering “Sweet Lime”.
