Blue Planet II – Series Iconic
All of you remember the Radiohead single titled “Bloom” which was released in 2011. This song has been redone by the band and notorious film score composer and record producer Hans Zimmer in order to create something new for the BBC documentary Blue Planet II.
Because this collaboration was born for a documentary about oceans, the song has seen some changes. Thom Yorke, the vocalist of Radiohead, has provided new vocals, and the track was recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
What came out from this collaboration is a new version entitled “ocean (bloom)“, characterized by a lot of arches, as this is typical from the composer. Yorke also said that he is really interested in ecological matters, and he has unveiled that the original song was inspired by the original Blue Planet series.
Today, September 27, the song will be presented on BBC 6 Music and you can listen to a preview below.
