After much speculation of Hedi Slimane’s future at Saint Laurent, it has been announced through press release that he is to end his time as creative director. Finishing his 4 year contract at the high end brand, only good things could be said by François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of Kering (the holding company that owns Saint Laurent):
“What Yves Saint Laurent has achieved over the past four years represents a unique chapter in the history of the house. I am very grateful to Hedi Slimane, and the whole Yves Saint Laurent team, for having set the path that the house has successfully embraced, and which will grant longevity to this legendary brand”.
Slimane is highly regarded as a world class designer and so, it will be interesting to see what his next career move will be. Head to another luxury fashion house? Create his own brand? The world is certainly his oyster.
