Heidi Talbot resides in Scotland with her musical partner and husband, John McCusker. Out Friday, September 23, Here We Go, 1, 2, 3… sees her joined by a host of names, including Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow), Duke Special, Adam Holmes and Boo Hewerdine. Check the tour dates at the bottom of this article, and pre-order the upcoming album, here.
“The Year That I Was Born”, the latest track from that effort, is earnest and acoustically driven. It definitely has folky elements, though in this great restraint is shown in order to display more emotional aspects. This is then paired back to accentuate the interaction of both male and female vocals.
Its visuals are shot in entirely black and white, taking in the sights of the countryside, whether that be grass, burns or bolted wooden doors. The band, meanwhile, more or less remain indoors, whilst the focal point, Heidi, sings both outside and inside, the latter alone. Does this convey some sort of isolation regarding the year she was born and what may have happened back then?
