Laval, Quebec’s High Klassified has revealed a video drawing from his Kronostasis EP, titled “Gold”. Though the track itself features Chicago, Illinois’ Mick Jenkins, he isn’t actually in the Rachid Allaoua directed visual. Klassified, however, plays a leading role in the concept.
“Gold” opens eerie and out of tune. Then a jazzy soundscape washes over you, your eardrums beating in time to the track. Rim shots punctuate it until a heartbeat kicks in, alone, before restarting proper. Ethereal sounds, again, wash over the listener, but you are caught off guard and snapped out of your reverie, as those drums unexpectedly race back onto the track.
The visuals are odd, to say the least. It seems to detail Klassified’s love life, weird and totally surreal. He wakes up to an odd caricature of a woman laying in bed next to him, before being confronted by a freakishly tall Easter bunny. He isn’t attacked, as such, but certainly is rattled before eventually finding sense.
