Irish-born artist Wallis Bird has released her new single titled “Go”, which she describes as a song about beginnings and having the strength to stand out from the crowd to pursue passions and desires. The song is about letting go and embracing the uncertainty of what’s in store, because life’s too short to not try.
Taken from Wallis’ upcoming album HANDS, which is due on May 27, “Go” comes on the back of the release of singles such as “Aquarius”, “Power of the Word”, “What’s Wrong with Changing” and “Pretty Lies”.
Bird’s upcoming album HANDS is also being referred to as ‘NINE AND A HALF SONGS FOR NINE AND A HALF FINGERS’ sees the Berlin-based artist turning the spotlight onto herself, raising issues that are sometimes hard to face. The album tackles themes of trust, alcohol abuse, stagnation, self-censorship and self-improvement, with joy, ingenuity, and empathy.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Go”, Wallis Bird says, “‘Go’ is a song about beginnings. About looking at your present situation and saying ‘what do you want to do? Do you want to do something a bit different? A bit odd?’.
It’s about forcing yourself to stand out from the crowd when you want to – pursuing your passions and desires, because when it comes down to it, nobody else is going to do it for you. It’s about relenting and saying ‘let’s do it, let’s get started’ embracing the uncertainty of what’s in store, because life’s too short to not try“.
About her upcoming album, Wallis Bird adds that, “I share the release date of my album HANDS around the joy of ‘Pride’ and the jubilant 7 year anniversary of the Marriage Equality Vote, a huge event in Irish history. An event I broadcast into my songs, to mark the power of the people, to mark Panti Bliss, to mark my pride in Ireland over the last 20 years, and how far her people have come. Grá agus Bród ABÚ!”
