Rumours have been circulating since 2013 about a possible Layer Cake sequel, with Jason Statham tipped to take over from Daniel Craig in the lead role. During a recent press conference for his latest movie, Spy, Statham revealed that author JJ Connolly’s Viva La Madness would be adapted for the big screen for the sequel. Statham also stated that currently the finance for the sequel was dealt with and that production would begin sometime next year. There is no confirmation whether Matthew Vaughn will return at the helm after making his directorial debut with Layer Cake.
