The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that the next X-Men flick in the newest franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, will indeed be her last. Lawrence, who plays mutant Mystique, has had a huge career boost with roles in the likes of Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Serena and Winters Bone, so the likelihood of her having time to continue with the franchise for much longer was already slim.
Lawrence confirmed the news to MTV during a red carpet interview for new film Serena. MTV asked if she’d be returning to the franchise after Apocalypse and Lawrence gave a concrete ‘No’. While there are no details as to what this means for her character, I wouldn’t be surprised if she meets a deadly end; especially if Bryan Singer is actually considering wrapping up the franchise after Apocalypse.
Still, there’s serious money to be made in the franchise, even without Lawrence and there’s no reason James McAvoy and his band of mutants can’t continue the storyline, should Michael Fassbender‘s Magnito leave with Mystique. Either way, I’ll miss Lawrence rocking that blue body paint! X-Men: Apocalypse hits theatres on May 27, 2016.
