The “Classic Man” Jidenna, releases the visuals to another head bopper, “Chief Don’t Run”. Clinking glasses to his accomplishments – “on yacht with a prince in Dubai now/I’m with the Dalai Lama’s homies in the sky lounge,” he raps – while staying humble like his beginnings.
He embeds a political message in the video, playing both cop and arrestee, saying, “I live a different set of laws out here/Know my rights even when I’m in the wrong out here/Look what we did with one song out here/Like a locksmith opened every door out here”. He also slips in symbols of salutation to his Igbo (Nigerian Roots).
“Chief Don’t Run” follows Jidenna’s previous releases “Long Live The Chief” and “Classic Man”. The latter peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.
