Twenty six-year-old Puerto Rican supermodel Joan Smalls has been snapped up by Italian fashion brand United Colors of Benetton to be the star of their Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. A spokesperson for the brand said of the decision: “Joan is a highly talented and successful woman who reflects the perfect Benetton way of life – Italian style that mixes fashion and practicality”.
The campaign, shot in New York by Cass Bird, shows Smalls smiling in a mix of colourful and flirty designs, including a classic stripey jumper. The collection aims to celebrate Italian style, drawing inspiration from the 1953 Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday. The collection is available to buy now from Benetton’s website.
