Jodie Comer has been approached by producer and filmmaker Ridley Scott to play a role in his upcoming film titled Kitbag. Both have already worked together on previous projects that were also historical films such as The Last Duel featuring Matt Damon and Adam Driver.
For this upcoming movie Kitbag, the actress would be playing the role of Joséphine, the first wife of the French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. The role of the emperor will be played by the Joker actor Joaquin Phoenix.
Ridley has already chosen David Scarpa to be the screenwriter of the movie, which will be produced by Apple Studios as well as AppleTV+. Ridley will work alongside Kevin Walsh for the production. The title of the film is in reference to the saying, “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag“.
Kitbag is going to be all about the French emperor’s troubled and complicated relationship with Joséphine, his origins, his ruthless conquering quests, and how he rose to become one of the strongest emperors of the 19th century in less than 10 years of ruling.
Jodie, Ridley and Joaquin also have other projects going on right now, for Jodie, the soon coming film The Last Duel and for Scott, a film on the luxury Italian brand Gucci, while C’mon C’mon starring Joaquin is supposed to come out later this year.
Jodie has seen his career skyrocket since her role in the series Killing Eve alongside famous Grey’s Anatomy actress Sandra Oh and now with her role in the drama film coming out later this year, the actress is ready to make 2021 her year!
Hopefully, we will soon get more information on the release date which hasn’t been confirmed yet.
