Joey Bada$$ has chosen some tragic subject matter for his new video “Like Me”, off his newly-released debut studio album B4.DA.$$. From the moment you hit play on the album, your head doesn’t stop bobbin’, it’s ’90s-revival-rap at its best, but it’s the way that this young New York emcee couples being hugely reflective with those beats that make his style so intriguing. It sets him apart from his more one-dimensional peers who just have drugs, women and money on their minds. This track is one of the more sombre ones on the album, and to match the tone, the clip makes for grim viewing, as Bada$$ meets the same fatal end that an alarming number of young black Americans have met at the hands of the police recently as well.
