There must be a reason if Apple’s Beats 1 Radio is pushing the young Jorja Smith as the new, brightest sensation of 2016. After the hypnotic “Blue Lights” and downtempo-y “A Prince”, the young Walsall-born, London-based singer released her third strike with the R&B stomper “Where Did I Go”.
The track, which probably fails in being as emotionally engaging as her first single, confirms the 18-years girl as a huge raw talent, capable of adventurous songwriting over a minimalistic, piano-driven instrumental. This summer, Jorja is set to join several festivals, such as Wild Life (June 11-12), Wireless (July 8-10) and Lovebox (July 15-16).
