MOBO Award nominee, Julian Nicco Annan, aka Juls continues to dominate the soundscape of Africa with another helping of hot new music. Joining forces with Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold and Ghanaian artist Bisa Kdei, their beautiful blend delivers happy, ‘feel good’ African vibes with his track called “Agoro“. The record comes fresh off his new EP, titled Ojekoo which has over 1M plays on Spotify.
“Agoro” means ‘to have fun’; or ‘let’s have a good time – “Yen di agoro”, in the Ghanaian language (Twi). That is the embodiment of the video as it captures the essence of Juls’ beautiful country. The colours, the energy and the joy. Armed with a camera, Juls is makes the most of his trip ‘back home’.
Gold and Kdei are also there to enjoy and are the perfect artists for this song given their traditional high-life influences in their modern music coming through on this track.
“The initial idea I had for Agoro was to shoot on a local beach, call a few friends, a few fine babes and flex with fake dollar notes and some cars that weren’t mine lol. But that didn’t happen”, says the London based producer.
“I decided to shoot in my grandfather’s hometown, Jamestown…It was a crazy experience and director Babs Direction did an amazing job with his crew. We were able to capture real authentic vibes in the area. I probably met a few relatives that day as well. Everyone in the area loved the song as well”
