Colombian-American soul and indie pop singer-songwriter Kali Uchis has shared her brand new track “Aquí Yo Mando” alongside Rico Nasty.
The Grammy- and Latin Grammy-nominated artist offers a first insight into her forthcoming sophomore studio album. The EP will be her first Spanish album ever. Kali grow up between Virginia and Columbia. In 2015 she became popular with her project “Por Vida”.
After that she released her debut album Isolation in 2018. The album received critical acclaim and was featured on Best Of lists in Rolling Stone and was discussed other magazines. Kali already collaborated with big names in the music industry such as Gorillaz, Jorja Smith and Snoop Dogg.
She has shared stages with many musicians and performed at several festivals like Coachella, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Lovebox – to name just a few of them. In the beginning of 2020 Kali released her previous EP TO FEEL ALIVE which is basically a collection of demos made during her time in quarantine.
Highsnobiety called the project “an intimate and personal project that touches on sexuality, her ouroboros-like relationship to her own work, and the experience of isolating as the world outside is radically changing”.
Now she goes on with the powerful Spanish track “Aquí Yo Mando” and marks another step in her career. The song comes with a rough hip-hop driven beat and on-point rap parts. Kali is showing a new side and a boss attitude here.Listen to the song below.
