It’s on! The announcement of this year’s nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards has caused a rift between three of the biggest names in music. After Nicki Minaj supposedly threw shade at Taylor Swift’s multiple nominations, Taylor responded accusing the rapper of “pitting women against each other“, which is odd, considering that’s what award shows are generally about, Swifty.
Now the feud has escalated with Katy Perry pointedly stating on twitter, “Finding it ironic to parade the ‘pit women against other women’ argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman“. This tweet seems to be a not so subtle reference to Taylor’s massive hit, “Bad Blood”, which was apparently written about Perry herself. Oddly, the voice of reason in this debate is Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul who kindly offered to take Taylor and Nicki out for pancakes to talk this feud through. So far, neither have taken him up on his offer…
