KIN TALA, a musical duo from Blackpool, England, has unveiled their debut EP, Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost. This seven-track collection is a fusion of indie-rock, electronic, and ambient sounds, showcasing the band’s evolution and creative depth.
The EP features a range of tracks that push the boundaries of both sound and theme. It opens with “Aztecs,” an eclectic and airy piece that sets the stage for the duo’s ambitious artistic vision. The journey continues through tracks like the synth-driven “Heavy Head,” culminating in the indie-rock influenced “Two Socks.”
Each piece demonstrates KIN TALA’s commitment to crafting unique soundscapes, reflecting their diverse influences and desire to experiment beyond the typical indie genre.
The project reflects the long-standing friendship and musical partnership of KIN TALA members, Dom Rogers and Shee Juma. According to Dom, the EP captures their shared experiences, frustrations, and musical evolution.
“NATWWAL is an expression of a lot of things; our long friendship, our drive to make interesting music, and KIN TALA finding itself,” he says.
The duo used the opportunity to fully explore their creativity, incorporating a wide range of sounds and themes that address societal, historical, and political issues.
A highlight of the EP is “Ocean Blues,” which pays tribute to community, family, and friends. Reflecting on its creation, Shee notes its origins in 2014, inspired by Mac DeMarco’s *Salad Days*. This track holds special meaning for the duo, symbolizing the early days of their musical journey.
KIN TALA’s debut has been praised for its innovative approach, with Mystic Sons noting the fresh and progressive nature of their songwriting and production. With this release, KIN TALA establishes itself as a promising act in the alternative indie scene, promising more exciting music to come.
