Young Money president Mack Maine has announced hip-hop artist Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V is now platinum.
Tha Carter V is the 12th studio album by Amercian rapper Lil Wayne. It was released on September 28, by Young Money Entertainment, Republic Records and Universal Music Group. The album’s features include XXXTentacion, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and many more talented artists.
Wayne had initially struggled with releasing the album, mainly due to the legal battle with Cash Money Records over unpaid royalties. However, it was received well by Weezy fans, achieving close to 500K copies in the first week itself. Now, 7 weeks later it has surpassed a million copies in total sales, allowing the masterpiece to be eligible for Platinum status.
On Sunday, the hip-hop executive Maine has announced that Weezy F. Baby’s latest release will earn platinum plague.
Wayne has posted on Instagram with great gratitude: “THANK YOU !!”.

With standout tracks “Mona Lisa” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “Uproar” in collaboration with Swizz Beatz, Weezy’s 12th studio album receiving official eligibility for platinum certification by the RIAA is well deserved.
