Glastonbury Festival have confirmed their first 2015 festival performer as veteran soul singer Lionel Richie. The performer will be taking Sunday’s ‘tea time’ slot which is typically reserved for legendary artists that have included Shirley Bassey and Dolly Parton. The festival which will take place over June 24 to June 28, 2015, will surprisingly be Lionel’s first UK Festival performance, and one he’s thrilled about judging by his statement. “I’m really excited to play Glastonbury next year as it’s one of the most iconic festivals in the world….It has a phenomenal history and the alumni of artists who have previously played is incredible so I’m honoured to be joining that club. It will be a really special moment for me and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I can now say ‘Yes, I’m playing Glastonbury”.
