Mac Miller‘s family and relatives has shared a statement to condemn the release of another upcoming book concerning the life of the rapper called The Extraordinary Life of Mac Miller by Paul Cantor.
The statement has been shared on Instagram to announce to the fans that the family has not authorized in any ways this release: “This book is not authorized or endorsed by Malcolm’s family and has been written by a writer with whom Malcolm did not have a relationship”.
Moreover, the relatives of the late artist declared that the writer of this biography had no contact with the family or close collaborators of Mac Miller. The writer had made known to the relatives that he had the intention of writing this book but the family informed him that they were not in favor of it. The writer decided however to go against the family’s will and write this biography.
Mac Miller‘s estate has also premised that the author planned the release of the book on Miller’s birthday, and that they absolutely condemn the use of this date as a marketing tool.
The statement ends with a request from the family that “those that wish to support Malcolm and his legacy to abstain from purchasing this new book” and instead turn to The Book of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller written by Donna-Claire Chesman, which has been written in collaboration with relatives of the rap artist who died at the age of 26 in 2018.
