Mae Muller addresses her bitterness in such a sweet and smooth way with her new video for “Pull Up“.
The song is her latest collaboration with the Grammy nominated producer Two Inch Punch whilst she yet again shows her talents as one of the best new storytellers. The song itself speaks on being angry & sad at the same time, whilst going through a break-up. The artistic direction of the “Pull Up” video is all about showing the duality; much like montages in movies, both the happy & sad flashbacks.
Muller told The FADER: “The idea behind the video was to show the comparison between when a relationship was once sweet, to sour. I think it just highlights the poignancy because it makes you reminisce about the good times.I wanted to capture the kind of bitterness you can feel when something doesn’t end so well.”
Muller’s opening account as a musician has been an exciting one thus far, and has seen her get nods from all the right places in her still fledgling career. They all note her ability to speak to people through powerful emotions, while making pop songs that are both addictive & clever.
