BKO Quintet are “born from a meeting between five established artists…the heart of the contemporary Mali”. There’s Ibrahima Sarr, a “powerful percussionist”; Fassara Sacko, “whose voice takes you from aback”; Nfali Diakité, who is “celebrated by his peers”; Abdoulaye Kone, with a “unique psychedelic style”; and Aymeric Krol, “experienced of internationals stages”.
The first EP was recorded in January 2012 “in Bamako in the popular district of Medina Coura”. In its new edition, some tracks recorded in January 2013 have been added to the EP, and a debut album came 2014. For those new to the group, what better way to introduce yourself to them than catching them in the flesh? After extensive tours of Europe, they are no slouches live.
