She has been seen in and around London recently and today information has surfaced releasing details on Mary J. Blige’s forthcoming album very aptly titled The London Sessions, which has been recorded in London and is likely to be released in November. The album will feature some of the UK’s best talents such as Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Disclosure – the album will have ten new songs in total.
Mary J. Blige explained why she wanted to work with just UK artists on the project saying, “the ones that get truly successful are the ones using proper songwriting. Rudimental for example – they write proper songs and then produce them like dance music. And that is exactly what we’re trying to do, along with a few other people. But that applies to any genre, not just dance music. You could take the songs off Sam Smith’s album, produce them in a completely different way and they would still be a huge success – you could produce them like acid jazz and I still feel like they’d get somewhere”. Well we look forward to the album!
