Chicago native and Grammy-nominated artist Matt B has unveiled his latest single, “Wambile,” as part of his new album ALKEBULAN II.
The album, a continuation of his exploration into afrobeat influences, fuses rhythmic African percussion with orchestral elements. Recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, ALKEBULAN II delves into themes of personal and ancestral struggles, paralleling Matt B’s journey in the music industry.
“Wambile” stands out with its melodic Afrobeats symphony, symbolizing Matt B’s perseverance in overcoming challenges throughout his career. As the lead track, it not only furthers his narrative but also bridges the gap between his Chicago roots and global appeal.
Matt B, who rose to fame with his 2021 debut album *Eden*, has consistently showcased his ability to blend Chicago hip-hop and R&B with international flavors. His music has charted not only in the U.S. but also in countries like Taiwan, Japan, and Latvia, proving his worldwide resonance.
The ALKEBULAN II album is accompanied by a series of interludes featuring spoken word poet Nomfundo Khambule, further emphasizing the album’s introspective and heritage-driven themes. Matt B’s journey through this album is a testament to his connection to his African roots, as he navigates personal growth and cultural identity.
