Brooklyn-based artist Melissa Mary Ahern has already released her musical songwriting production in the music scenes of New York and Berlin, making her first appearance in 2011. On that occasion, she launched her first solo, but it was only in the last year that she started creating buzz around herself. She launched two singles “Next To You” and “World of Wonder” with the collaboration of the important producer Doverman.
She continues to publish one single at a time to build a solid audience and create hype that could stimulate her work, while she creating momentum toward a full length record. Now she’s making her music on her own: she creates it by writing, self producing and performing all over NYC.
“How Will I Know” is the just released single of the Brooklyn singer, who decided to record it to a vintage reel-to-reel tape machine to tell a piece of personal history in a delicate old-style melody that transports the song to another era. Through the lyrics she describes her musical routine between Berlin and New York, while at night she worked as a cocktail waitress.
She opens with the listener with an unexpected intimacy on his deep concerns illuminated by his delicate voice. A gentle guitar follows its voice as it speaks in melodic poetry taking its time in each whispered note.
