British Latina Milena Sanchez has released a new single titled “Like That.” This heartfelt Reggaeton track delves into a toxic love cycle. The song portrays the complexities of a relationship marked by repeated breakups and reconciliations. Milena sings about the constant struggle of trying to leave, only to be pulled back in.
“Like That” continues the theme of Spanglish, which Milena embraced in her previous release, “Mira (Frikitona).” The song switches between English and her native Spanish, reflecting her bicultural background. Milena says, “This song, I feel many people can relate to. Being addicted to a person who you know is not worthy of loving you, but still trying to show them that you would love them unconditionally, which constantly leaves the ball in their court.”
The single is accompanied by a simple yet captivating performance video filmed in Miami. The video captures the emotion of falling back into familiar but destructive patterns. Milena’s raw performance adds depth to the song’s theme, resonating with those who have experienced similar relationships.
Born and raised in London by Colombian parents, Milena was immersed in Latin music from a young age. Growing up in South London, she was surrounded by genres like Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, and Reggaeton. Influences include artists such as Celia Cruz, La India, Thalia, and Shakira. Milena began performing at the age of six and won her first singing competition at eleven. She even performed at one of the first Latin Carnivals in London.
Over the past seven years, Milena’s career took a different path. She was a part of “The Receipts Podcast” and authored a best-selling book. Despite this, her passion for music remained. With over 2 million YouTube views and a social following of over 160,000, Milena has returned to her first love, music.
Her musical comeback started in 2024 with the single “Mira (Frikitona),” inspired by a classic Reggaeton track. It was featured on Spotify’s official playlists, such as Spotify & Chill, Just Dropped, Fresh Finds Latin, and R&B UK. Following this, she performed at the sold-out Jazz Cafe London for La Linea 2024, the London Latin Music Festival.
Milena’s goal is to open doors for other UK Latin artists. She aims to show the UK the global popularity of Reggaeton. She says, “As a UK Colombian woman who loves reggaeton and Latin music, I’m trying to open doors for other UK Latin artists. I had no representation of this growing up, not only that, I’m trying to show the UK how big reggaeton is worldwide.
There’s so many people out there who aren’t Latin/Hispanic but they love the music. I won’t ever stop speaking about British Latinos and Latin music.”
With her consistent releases in 2024, fans are eager to see what Milena Sanchez has planned next. “Like That” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
