On Wednesday, Kayne West debuted at NYFW with his Yeezy season 5 collection. The style he proposed was traditional debutin denim jackets, jeans and oversized fur coats. He also casted fairly unknown models, but with some exceptions.
One was 19-years-old Somali-American model, Halima Aden, who caught everybody’s attention for wearing a hijab on the catwalk.
The web immediately stood up in a series of positive comments. Kayne’s choice was largely shared on social media where many people showed their happiness in seeing such a diversity on the catwalk.
Someone defined West as a “true visionary and artist”, while others shared their approval by congratulating with Halima hoping to see her soon again on the catwalk.
Aden was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and arose fame in November as a contestant for Miss Minnesota USA, where she proudly wore a burkini during the swimsuit show.
Aden and West sent a powerful message to encourage people to be always themselves.
