Fashion has often been criticised for a lack of diversity. While designers such as Olivier Rousteing for Balmain are progressive in using models of many ethnicities, other designers aren’t as forthcoming.
Lingerie brand Naja is the latest company to develop a nude underwear collection that is inclusive of a range of different skin tones. CEO Catalina Girald said she came up with the idea after noticing that athlete Gaby Douglas was wearing nude shoes that didn’t match her skin tone during the 2012 London Olympics.
The women featured in the advertising campaign have varied body shapes and careers, and include co-founder American actress Gina Rodriguez, star of Jane the Virgin, a software engineer and a Harvard Business School student.
