South London based singer, songwriter and dancer Nashrene, dropped her first single on August 21st and it’s called ‘Want It (Me, Myslef & I)‘, together with a 90’s colour pop inspired videoclip.
The song was inspired by her favourite artist Kelis, which gives it some soft harmonies in a pop R&B style. As she says, it revolves around her strength in never settling for less than she deserves. Quoting her chorus “If I want it imma go head for it” she says that she won’t be stopped by any obstacles that may come between her and her dreams.
She has a unique vocal imprint that permits her to create a soulful vibe through her harmonious vocals. Other than by Kelis, her music is also inspired by newer sounds from artists like Kali Uchis and Alina Baraz.
Not only that, the singer of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent grew up listening to lot of old school hip hop, rap, R&B, soul and pop music, which is why she follows the steps of famous artists such as Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Missy Elliot, Kelis, Beyonce and Britney Spears.
To go back to her songs, as already mentioned, Nashrene likes to share her personal emotions to connect with her audience in a timeless way, in order to appear deeply relatable for every person that listens to her music.
Indeed, she communicates, through her sounds, on an emotional level, trying to make her fans feel understood and telling them that everything is going to be okay, because we are all in the same boat feeling the same emotions.
She says that creating and performing is her sweet escape from reality and she describes it as a sort of therapy. Promoting self-love and with the goal to inspire and empower, her new singles are ready to be released soon in a new EP for the beginning of 2021.
