TikTok has spawned a new viral moment with teens doing the #GucciModelChallenge and making fun of the brand that’s well-known for lot of layers and colourful clothing.
However, young people are not only parodying the luxurious style, some of them are trying to put their names in the running for Gucci’s next campaign with this unofficial casting – and that’s not even that far-fetched.
The #GucciModelChallenge is taking over the popular app right now and amassed over 7.9 million views and thousands are posting convincing videos so far.
The videos feature the original audio by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Lachlan Watson who outlines in a monotonous voice, how to build your DIY Gucci-approved fit. Her style advise range from colorful turtlenecks to wild mixed patterns and a silky headscarf.
But why do people think that Gucci’s Alessandro Michele might be watching and invite them for their next collection? We’ve all seen the power that viral campaigns have had before and nowadays the understanding for brand identities is drifting.
Furthermore Gucci have made unconventional castings before. From hiring its own employees to model their 2020 collection to including Bethann Hardison in their pre-fall 2020 lookbook.
