Innovative New York based duo Cafuné, comprised of singer/songwriter Sedona Schat and writer/producer Noah Yoo, released their new single “Demise” on July 26, 2023, collaborating with songwriter and producer Imad Royal, known for his work with artists like Doja Cat, BTS, and Panic! at the Disco.
The alternative pop/indie pop song serves as an insightful reflection on personal responsibility and self-awareness in our failures and downfalls.
Articulating a sentiment many can relate to, Cafuné shared, “We wrote ‘Demise’ about feeling mentally stuck in that internal dialogue of being unkind to yourself; trapped in decision paralysis, silencing yourself for fear of being misunderstood. Sometimes it’s helpful to laugh at yourself to get over these self-sabotaging patterns.”
“Demise” provides a glimpse into the upcoming EP, Love Songs for the End, and marks the conclusion of a journey that began with their debut EP Love Songs for Other People released in 2015. Reflecting on the transition, the duo stated, “Endings can be sad, but they don’t have to be. The title is also a thank you to the listeners who’ve held us down from our first EP.”
Since their days as NYU students in the mid-2010s, Schat and Yoo have been crafting music together, often recording in their homes. Despite this humble approach, they achieved platinum certification with their hit song “Tek It” from the album Running. This track reached the Top 5 at Alternative Radio and hit #1 on Billboard’s ‘Bubbling Under Hot 100’ chart.
Looking ahead, Cafuné has an exciting schedule, including their debut performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza on August 4th, 2023, and a North American tour, which has already sold out.
The release of “Demise” showcases Cafuné’s continued growth and creativity in the music industry, demonstrating their ability to translate complex emotions into compelling musical expressions.
