Nigerian Producer Kel-P Shares His New Track ‘What Have You Done?’

Award-winning Nigerian producer, Kel-P, has just dropped a brand-new single, “What Have You Done?” Kel-P, renowned for his influential role in the Afrobeats scene, crafted this song with the sole intention of making people dance.

In February, Kel-P had unveiled his vocal talents with the debut EP, “Bully Season Vol.1.” This vibrant collection was brimming with tropical tributes to women, all designed to get feet moving on the dance floor.

Speaking about “What Have You Done?” Kel-P shared, “While in Los Angeles collaborating with The Elements, I was searching for an uptempo beat to satisfy my love for inciting dance. We co-created the rhythm, infusing it with my cultural influences to ‘bring my people home.’ The beat itself inspired the overall artistic direction for this single.”

Filmed amidst a buzzing club party in Lisbon, the accompanying video showcases the irresistible allure of rhythm and the unity of movement.

Lisbon holds a special place in Kel-P’s heart; recently, he performed songs from his EP live for the first time at a friend Richie Campbell’s concert at the Altice Arena, captivating an audience of 17,000 with an eight-piece band.

Kel-P’s recent accomplishments also include his significant contributions as a musician and producer on the Creed III soundtrack, executive produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville.

Music has been a lifelong passion for Kel-P. His journey began under the guidance of his first musical mentor, Sarz, who introduced him to music and inspired him to create his instrumentals.

His vibrant and dynamic sound quickly took shape. His first significant project came in 2018 when he produced “Eleganza” by Solidstar.

This marked the beginning of a series of collaborations with major artists, notably Burna Boy. He produced eleven tracks for Burna Boy’s 2019 chart-topping album “African Giant,” including hit singles “On The Low,” “Gbona,” “Killin Dem,” and “Pull Up.”

Kel-P’s discography further includes stellar tracks like Wizkid’s “Ginger,” featuring Burna Boy, “Donne-moi l’accord” for Dadju and Burna Boy, and “Diamond Platinum” for Jeje. His collaboration with Skip Marley on “Faith” earned him a GRAMMY Award nomination for “Best Reggae Album.”
