Noel Gallagher is coming home. The Oasis music legend is set to return to Manchester for a charity concert as part of the Football for Change event, that will take place on September 22.
Noel will be joined by many other superstars, like Spice Girl Mel C and Emile Sandè, who will all perform at the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground to raise money to help young people affected by poverty.
The annual fundraising gala will be hosted by This Morning presenter Vernon Kay, supported by Liverpool former player and Sky Sport host Jamie Carragher, who will be involved in a Q&A with high-profile guests.
Following Gallagher’s attendance confirmation, Carragher claimed: “It is amazing to have Noel and his band supporting Football For Change by playing at our annual fundraising gala next month. He is a music icon and we’re all looking forward to it”, as reported on the Manchester Evening News.
The Football for Change initiative was created by Carragher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Conor Coady, in collaboration with This Generation Communications, a PR firm.
Sir Rod Stewart, the official patron of Football for Change, contributed to raise £100.000 last year which “helped send more than 40 disadvantaged children to the USA on sporting and educational retreats, as well as distributing grants to organisations in the most deprived areas”, as confirmed on the Manchester Evening News.
Among the prestigious guests that are expecting to attend, there are Jude Bellingham, Lionesses hero Beth Mead, Jack Harrison and Gary Neville. While Gary Lineker, Steven Gerrard and Brazilian international Lucas Moura will be the event ambassadors.
This year the gala aims at building on the £350,000 already raised by Football for Change, thanks to the generous donations of Robbie Williams, Sir Rod Stewart, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Formula 1.
