North Hollywood-based Indie Rock Musician and Producer, Brady Harris, has opened the doors to his latest sonic adventure, the EP Hotel In The Sky, released on April 14, 2023.
The record, an infusion of Beatles-esque Americana Rock, offers listeners an evocative journey, drawing them into a world where vintage electric riffs, multi-layered melodies, and enchanting vocals resonate.
Brady’s Texas roots coupled with his Californian influences have always given his music a unique character, where traditional songcraft meets rock n’ roll flair. Such distinctiveness led Popdose to once describe his sound as if “the Beatles were from Texas.” This sentiment is echoed by All Music Guide, noting Harris’s eclectic style, drawing parallels with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.
Taking full ownership of his craft, Brady singlehandedly penned, performed, and produced the entirety of Hotel In The Sky. The tracks, recorded at BlackPug Studios in Los Angeles and La Grotte Studios in Nice, France, cover a wide range of themes.
From the title track, inspired by an East London drug den and the profound depths of love, to “Economy of Sound,” which delves into the transformative power of music. Themes of love and loss are further explored in “Welcome Back to the Comedown” and “Parting Gift,” while “Chateau Hill” draws inspiration from the picturesque Colline du Château in Nice, France.
Harris’s expertise in blending diverse subgenres and orchestral arrangements shines through the EP, evoking influences of artists such as Dan Auerbach, Elliott Smith, Jack White, Wilco, and John Lennon. The outcome is a 5-track masterpiece that transports listeners to a bygone era, reminiscent of classic rock with a fresh twist.
Harris’s journey in music has seen him don an array of hats. From his song “Good To Know” being the face of a yearlong ad campaign for Portugal’s leading bank, Caixa Geral, to scoring the indie-film “Harold”, and even penning the theme song for the SNL skit “Bear City.”
But perhaps, it’s his time as a busker on the streets of London and Paris that provides an underlying rawness to his compositions. Beyond his solo ventures, he is also one half of the folk-rock duo, Wood Hitch.
With Hotel In The Sky, Brady Harris has once again proven his caliber as a storyteller and musician, offering tracks that seamlessly bridge the past with the present, ensuring listeners a stay that they won’t forget.
