The mononymous Olú is soulfully inquisitive and pensive on her latest track titled “Baby“. This latest song serves as her 3rd single after the success of her debut single “The Cry” and the follow up “Aye”, the latter being featured on the Apple Music homepage as well as placed in the Top 5 on its ‘Hot Tracks’.
The latest single is very guitar-driven. The electric and bass guitars are beautifully intertwined to create something that is almost dream like. It is a soulful pour of emotions as she embarks on a metaphorical journey to answer her most desired question “Baby, where are you going?” and strives to achieve a sense of release which she manages to do by the very end.
Olú describes her latest single “Baby” as “creating an artistic experience of finding you from I”. Her music is inspired by “the collective unconscious to send messages we need to hear.” You definitely get a sense of her influences in this particular song, the likes of Sade, Erykah Badu, Asa and other soul and spiritual music artists.
