2014 X Factor winner Ben Haenow announced yesterday (January 28) that he’s decided to ‘part company’ with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Music, meaning that Cowell now only has two out of 12 winners still signed. Those 2 winners are Little Mix and last year’s champion Louisa Johnson.
Don’t worry too much for Cowell, though, as he still manages the following seven runner-ups: One Direction, Olly Murs, Fleur East, Ella Henderson, Rebecca Ferguson, new boys on the block Reggie N’Bollie and Tamera Foster (no, me neither).
The outstanding success of runner-ups like One Direction and Fleur East have proved that winning the X Factor isn’t everything – in fact, NOT winning seems to be the key to success for many acts. X Factor viewers are actually incredibly savvy and switched on – if they don’t like the winner they’re being swayed towards voting for, they go all out to support the acts they think should’ve won. Never underestimate the punters!
