The minute the first trailer dropped for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans went nuts over the possibilities of what could come from the new, highly anticipated movie. While cast and crew have kept quiet about what the plot details are, the internet has been awash with theories, Oscar Isaac has spoken to Yahoo! Movies and has confirmed that all the theories he’s read so far have been completely off-base.
Speaking to the website, Isaac commented; “I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing? But it creates excitement for it. I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base”.
Isaac continued to talk about the project, choosing his words very carefully as not to give too much away. He did however, speak briefly on the importance of practical effects and a sense of believably for the audience; “You have to kind of get in touch with that child again that had a little X-Wing and would fly around his room making crazy sounds, you had to tap into that spirit again and that was a lot fun. There was a lot of practical effects. A lot of the stuff they actually made. There wasn’t a lot of green screen”.
This has got to be great news for fans as much of the criticism to follow the previous prequel trilogy was based on that subject matter. Directed by J.J Abrams and starr ing Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega; Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theatres on December 18, 2015.
