Many memorable red-carpet moments have been brought to us by the BRIT Awards over the years, like Dua Lipa‘s Vivienne Westwood moment in 2021 and Geri Halliwell‘s classic union jack little outfit from 1997.
The celebrities that walked the red carpet this year chose a variety of unconventional styles, bare baby bumps, ruffles pearls, and much more.
This year, there was something for every fashion preference, in addition to a lot more. Some celebrities went for classic red-carpet attire, while others wore outlandish designs that were sure to draw notice.
Sam Smith, a double nominee, opted for the latter and, in this striking black and plastic suit, appeared as though they may float away. We hope they were okay when they attempted to sit down.
Jodie Turner-Smith tweeted a selfie from the back of her limo while travelling to the 2023 Brit Awards with the remark, “I don’t need an MF filter.” She wasn’t mistaken.
Turner-Smith wore a gold draped jersey dress from Zuhair Murad‘s spring/summer 2023 collection, along with gold Jimmy Choo heels and disco-inspired hair that echoed Pam Grier and Diana Ross, and she looked stunning.
At the ceremony on Saturday night, she wasn’t the only performer shining a light on London. Lizzo, who performed, strolled the red carpet in dramatic Robert Wun couture, Rina Sawayama tried on a slinky hooded Saint Laurent dress, and Maya Jama donned Schiaparelli among the zanier looks (Sam Smith).
Salma Hayek embraced the skintight leather of the Magic Mike era. Alexander McQueen was the designer.
Harris Reed, a longtime collaborator of Harry Styles‘ and the recently appointed creative director at Nina Ricci, created an oversized bouquet for Harry Styles, who won Best British Album for Harry’s House after his contentious success at the Grammys.
