Melbourne trio, Passerine, come forward with quite a curious slice of electro-beat, called “White Shadows And Grey Noise”. Apparently this song very much came about by accident, with Ben Murphy tinkering about; the rest of the band liking and encouraging its development.
It has a haunting melody, weird if not creepy. The drum tempo is addictive, urging one to dance. The vocals have a certain restrained sassiness, and, when the track properly kicks off, they soar. The bass in this one would probably blow your eardrums off in a live context. The closing minute has satisfying electronic voices punctuating sparse rhythms.
