Stream a preview of Trent Reznor’s latest collaboration with Atticus Ross for the soundtrack of David Fincher’s adaption of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I always get excited when I hear Trent Reznor has composed the music for a new film, as he constantly seems to do such a brilliant job. Every piece has classic hints of Reznor’s unique sound and fits perfectly in context just as his work on The Social Network’s soundtrack demonstrated.
The inspiration for this soundtrack is quite interesting as Fincher told Reznor to “think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlours. The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s ok. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel”, Reznor revealed when speaking with The Wall Street Journal. Such an elaborate description that is most definitely right up Reznor’s alley. Check out his take on ‘curdled’ massage parlour, and listen to the Gone Girl original soundtrack here.
